Bank History

The Jacksboro National Bank was chartered on June 30, 1905. The bank opened for business on July 24, 1905, with initial deposits of $9,761.02, made by nine original depositors. The bank first occupied a building near the center of the south side of the public square for nine years. There were three employees.

In 1914 the bank purchased a building on the comer of Main and Belknap Street where it was located for forty-nine years.

In 1963 the bank moved to its present location with total assets of $3,446,717 and fifteen employees.

In 1998 the Jacksboro National Bank purchased the Bowie Bank and completely remodeled the existing building, added new drive-in equipment and installed a drive-up ATM.

An independent full service community bank that is totally dedicated to meeting the credit needs of our customers. Strength and stability have been key components of our bank's success along with an excellent service minded staff.

Beginning January 1, 2010 Jacksboro National Bank will no longer participate in the FDICs Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Thus, after December 31, 2009, funds held in noninterest-bearing transaction accounts will no longer be guaranteed in full under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program, but will be insured up to $250,000 under the FDICs general deposit insurance rules.
