ATM Safety

ATM's are always there to provide you with quick and convenient access to your money. Although ATM's are convenient and easy to use, there are several important safety tips you should follow to protect yourself, your ATM card, and your money.

Always be alert and aware of your surroundings when conducting an ATM transaction. Use ATMs in busy, well lit areas that are visible from the street. If you are suspicious of anyone near the ATM, go back later or use a different machine.
Keep your Personal Identification Number (PIN) and card number confidential. Your PIN is your personal code which gives you access to your money. Memorize this number and never write it on your ATM card or store it in your wallet. Not even employees of your financial institution should know your PIN.
Be prepared before using the ATM. Complete all forms and have your ATM card ready. When you withdraw cash, pocket it immediately and count it afterward.
Keep your receipts and verify all transactions against your statement. You should contact your financial institution if there are any unexplained transactions or discrepancies.
Report lost or stolen cards immediately to your financial institution. Remember, your ATM card is as good as cash.
